The Art of Journaling- Art Journaling

10:55

Are you the kind of person who just can't function unless you have some sort of project on the go?  Or maybe you've never even owned a paintbrush.  Either way, you could make art journaling your new thing.

I wrote an article for Eat More Cake, which should tell you everything you need to know about art journaling and will help you to get started.

Your art can be as simple as you like; a stick man or a swirl will do.

Your writing doesn't have to be poetic or eloquent; just a few words turns a sketchbook into an art journal.

Use bits of paper to create texture, or keep it simple with a watercolour wash or pencil crayons.

If you're feeling a bit rubbish, attack the page with splats of paint, or create a stormy scene.

Instead of raging to Twitter about something, take it out on your art journal.

When you're happy, make sure you remember that feeling by recording it on the page.

Find quotes to fit your mood and illustrate them.

If you're going on holiday, prepare some colourful backgrounds and then write a travel log over the top while you're away.

Fed up with boring old 'to do' lists?  Create a couple of pages for your reminders and jobs.  You never know, they might not be so overwhelming if they look pretty.

Most of all, enjoy it and do it for you.

Happy art journaling!
